Gold ring dating to the 4th century AD, crafted using the openwork (opus interrasile) technique. The object was auctioned in 2013 and is currently held in a private collection.
The inscription reads: ANIMA DULCIS VIVAS MECUM ("Sweet soul, may you live with me"). Judging by its state of preservation, it presumably originates from a necropolis. The ring's dimensions suggest it was intended for a woman—perhaps serving as a wedding band or a gift to the deceased from a relative, and undoubtedly custom-made.
That this is a unique piece rather than a mass-produced object is evident from the layout of the letters forming the scroll: the final letter "m" of the word "mecum" did not fit into the intended space due to a miscalculation by the artisan, and was consequently compressed and placed vertically.
